Lexi and her Stitches

We had our first trip to the ER with Lexi.  We were at my Mom's house and she was running around.  She went face first over a treadmill and hit her forehead on the register.  She of course started crying immediatly and I saw the gush of blood coming down her face.  Mommy panic mode kicked in.  I covered the cut to stop the bleeding.  After about a minute I took a look.  I knew it was a small but wanted to know how deep.  As soon as I saw it I knew we were heading to the ER, it was pretty deep.  Of course we had to stop and grab her blanket from home that she always sleeps with, it is her security item she has had since birth.
On the way into town she is just sobbing because she is scared to get a shot.  I try telling her it will be ok meanwhile dreading the shot myself.  We get to the ER and check in.  Noone is in the waiting room so we are hoping it is a quick wait..which it is.
The nurse we got was amazing with Lexi!!  We also had a PA David Morland from Galva who treated Lexi and he was amazing as well.  She needed 4 stitches.  The PA said we could try the numbing cream first.  He let us know it doesn't always work but he knew she didn't want a shot because she kept telling him this.  After about 40 minutes the cream worked and she got her stitches.  Now in between getting the numbing cream and starting the stitches Aunt Tina was wanting to come in to support Lexi, which Lexi loved that.  Tina made it just in time for them to start the stitches and it made Lexi smile :)  Besides the initial scare of not knowing what was going to happen she was such a brave little girl and we are so proud of her!!

Once we got in the room she got a little scared thinking about having a shot..but she was still trying to not cry and be brave.
she finally cried a little and those tears just melt my heart

4 stitches in and all done.  She got a purple popsicle when she was done which made her happy-happy-happy
walking out to the car and she is a much different Peanut than when we went in

One week later.....Lexi was able to have her stitches out.  She could either go back to the ER or have her physician do it.  We had Aunt Tammy the nurse take them out instead.  She only had tweezers and nail clippers and wasn't sure she could manage not having the smaller tools.  Lexi begged her to try (I don't think she wanted to go to the hospital again) and she got them all out.
